Why require the meal plan as a standard mandate of the school?

At Menachem Mendel Academy, we are all family, and it is impossible for one member of the family to thrive while another one is struggling.  All children are sensitive to their environments and surroundings, but some have more sensitivities than others, and all children manifest these sensitivities in different ways.  If one child is reacting poorly to toxic foods eaten throughout the day, it will affect their behavior, which of course affects the other children in the room.  At MMA, we celebrate real life with real children and real experiences, and we are not attempting to create a sterile science lab in our classrooms.  But, in order to provide the best possible environment for the students, we strive to eliminate or minimize all possible obstacles that could inhibit their ability to learn. Therefore, we hold very high standards in regard to our food.

We also appreciate that many parents are not yet aware, and many are just now learning, about the powerful impact that food has on our children.  Hence, we hope that the meal policy gives our parents a gift of one less thing to worry about in their already very full schedules.
